Description

If you’re planning to explore the Murchison Falls National Park in Uganda, then the Pakuba Airfield is the perfect gateway to your adventure. Located in the Nwoya District of northern Uganda, this airfield serves Pakuba and the Murchison Falls National Park.

Operated by the Civil Aviation Authority of Uganda, Pakuba Airfield is authorized to handle cross-border air traffic from member countries of the East African Community. The airfield receives daily domestic flights from Entebbe International Airport and Kajjansi Airfield, which are primarily used by tourists to visit Murchison Falls National Park, as well as connecting to Kidepo Valley National Park and Queen Elizabeth National Park.

Pakuba Airfield is approximately 275 kilometers northwest of Entebbe International Airport, the country’s largest civilian and military airport. It is also located near other airports within Murchison Falls National Park, such as Bugungu Airstrip and Chobe Safari Lodge Airport. However, be aware that on some cartographic materials, including Wikimapia and Google Maps, the airfield is incorrectly denoted as “Kabalega Falls Airport,” which is a now-disused designation for “Murchison Falls.”

The runway at Pakuba Airfield is oriented at 07/25, with a length of 1760 meters and a width of 30 meters. The surface is murram, and the altitude is 2365 feet. Though air navigational services are not available, there is a windsock for navigational aids. The airfield also provides aviation security and terminal services, and there are accommodations available in the nearby Murchison Falls National Park. However, fuel, fire and rescue, meteorology, immigration, and customs services are not available.
