Description

Since its establishment in 1959, the Aga Khan High School, Kampala has played a unique educational role in Uganda as the first multicultural school in the country. The school’s staff and students distinguished themselves under the leadership of the school’s Headmaster, Mr. Brendan McCourt, and many talented young men and women have since gone on to key universities and positions internationally, taking with them the skills and confidence nurtured at Uganda’s first multi-cultural school.

The Aga Khan High School, Kampala offers both national and international curriculums, and adopts the best international and contemporary teaching and learning methods, as well as educational leadership philosophies. The school challenges its pupils to be intellectually inquisitive and socially conscious, and to analyze what they do not know. The school believes that what students know is important, but the true measure of a student’s education is their ability to analyze what they do not know.

The Aga Khan Schools strive to create a harmonious balance between academic demands, sporting and cultural activities, and community life. The school’s mission is to produce students who are equipped with the tools they will need to make their way in school, society, and an increasingly interdependent world. The Aga Khan approach to education emphasizes the development of critical thinking and analysis, as well as respect and appreciation for other people’s cultures, social structures, values, and beliefs.
