However, in 2002, it achieved a significant milestone by obtaining ‘A’ level status, securing the coveted UNEB center number U0458. This expansion marked a pivotal moment in the school’s history, allowing it to offer a broader spectrum of educational opportunities to its students.The history of Kitebi Secondary School is intertwined with the rich heritage of the Buganda Kingdom. The very first and oldest block of the school was constructed during the rule of Kabaka Muteesa II as a Technical institution. This historical connection adds depth to the institution’s legacy, reflecting its integral role in the local community.As a testament to its adaptability and dedication to education, Kitebi Secondary School has undergone several transformations over the years. Initially, it served as a section of Kitebi primary school, catering to Junior one and Junior two students, and later, to P.7 students. However, in 1983, when the government’s vision was to establish a secondary school in every sub-county, the community made a profound decision. They relocated the P.7 section back to Kitebi primary school and repurposed the existing structure to establish a secondary school in the area. Thus, Kitebi Secondary School was born, continuing its mission of nurturing young minds.

As of today, Kitebi Secondary School continues to thrive as a community-founded government-aided secondary school. Its journey from an ‘O’ level institution to obtaining ‘A’ level status in 2002 has been nothing short of remarkable. In 2007, the school achieved another significant milestone by being granted U.S.E (Universal Secondary Education) status. The school’s growing popularity and the increasing demand for quality education led to its transition into a double-shift school in 2008.In 2011/12, Kitebi Secondary School was granted UPOLET (Universal Post ‘O’ level Education and Training) status, further enhancing its capacity to provide holistic education to its students. Today, the school boasts an impressive population of over 3000 students and employs more than 78 dedicated teachers, excluding the valuable support staff who contribute to the school’s daily operations.
