Established in 1913 by Albert Ruskin Cook, Old Mulago Hospital has a rich history of providing excellent patient care, training doctors, and conducting research. Despite facing challenges during the turbulent years of the 1970s and 1980s, the hospital has emerged stronger than ever, with a renewed commitment to guaranteeing hope to life at all times.


One of the hospital’s strengths is its bed capacity, with a total of 1,500 beds available. This ensures that patients from all over the country can access the medical attention they need. In addition, the hospital has specialized services in various disciplines such as General Surgery, Internal Medicine, Paediatrics, Neurology, Dentistry & Oral surgery, Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Ear, Nose & Throat (ENT), Endocrinology, Rheumatology, Renal Dialysis, and Accident and Emergency.


Old Mulago Hospital has always been at the forefront of healthcare in Uganda, and this is evident in the quality of its services. The hospital boasts of some of the best-trained doctors and medical personnel in the country, and they are committed to providing patients with the best care possible.
