Description

Mubende Regional Referral Hospital, commonly known as Mubende Hospital, is a public hospital located in the bustling town of Mubende, Central Uganda. As one of the thirteen Regional Referral Hospitals in Uganda, it serves as a vital healthcare provider for the districts of Mubende, Mityana, Kiboga, and Kyankwanzi.


Mubende Hospital is fully funded by the Uganda Ministry of Health, and general care is provided free of charge to all patients. It is also designated as one of the fifteen Internship Hospitals in Uganda, where medical school graduates can serve one year of internship under the guidance of qualified specialists and consultants.


The hospital’s catchment population is estimated to be over 610,000 people, as of July 2020. Mubende Hospital collaborates with Mildmay Uganda in implementing the Accelerating Epidemic Control Project against HIV/AIDS in several districts, including Kiboga, Kyankwanzi, Mubende, Mityana, Luweero, Kassanda, Nakasongola, and Nakaseke. This project, which is funded by the United States’ Centers for Disease Control and by the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), has been in operation for three consecutive years as of July 2020.
