
Centenary Bank is a leading Ugandan commercial bank that has been providing financial services to the public since 1985. Founded as a credit trust, Centenary Rural Development Trust (CRDT), the bank has grown to become a fully licensed commercial bank, offering a range of banking and financial services to customers across Uganda.
With a focus on promoting development through loans to rural farmers, processors of agricultural produce, small traders, small manufacturers, importers, and exporters, Centenary Bank has established itself as a key player in the microfinance arena, helping to meet the needs of individuals and businesses with limited means.
The bank’s commitment to promoting development in Uganda is also reflected in its partnerships with key stakeholders. In 2011, Centenary Bank launched a program with the World Bank Group to develop loans in the Ugandan agricultural sector. More recently, in 2017, the bank signed a partnership with Mastercard to develop a broad suite of new mobile banking solutions, while in 2021, it unveiled a Cente Platinum Mastercard, a debit card for its premium customers.
As of December 2021, Centenary Bank had a network of 63 bank branches, together with 157 linked automated teller machines at 115 locations in the Central, Western, Northern, and Eastern Regions. The bank had 1,493,554 deposit accounts, with assets of UGX:4.8 trillion (US$1.359 billion) and shareholders’ equity of USh789.52 billion (US$222.78 million)
