Mityana General Hospital, also known as Mityana District Hospital, is a public health facility located in the town of Mityana, Mityana District, in the Central Region of Uganda. Since its establishment in 1940, the hospital has been serving the community, providing essential healthcare services to the people of Mityana and its environs.
Mityana General Hospital was once in a deplorable state, with crumbling buildings and antiquated equipment. However, in 2013, the Ugandan government, with the aid of the World Bank, began a comprehensive update and renovation of the hospital. After two years of renovations, the hospital now boasts modern infrastructure and equipment, providing free general care to the public.
The hospital is strategically located in the central business district of the town of Mityana, making it easily accessible to those in need of medical attention. It is also located approximately 85 kilometres east of Mubende Regional Referral Hospital and about 69 kilometres west of Mulago National Referral Hospital, the largest hospital in the country.
Mityana General Hospital is staffed with qualified medical professionals, including doctors, nurses, and support staff, who are dedicated to providing quality care to patients. The hospital also has a well-equipped laboratory and pharmacy, ensuring that patients receive timely and accurate diagnoses and access to essential medication.
